2014 Larmandier-Bernier 1er Cru Terre de Vertus Blanc de Blancs

This estate is meticulously run by Pierre Larmandier and his wife Sophie. Pierre’s family have owned vineyards in the Côte des Blancs since the Revolution. The estate is now 15 hectares, predominantly in Vertus, at the Southern tip of the Côte des Blancs, and worked biodynamically.
Terre de Vertus is one of three single-terroir chardonnay wines produced at this estate and certainly the most famous. 100% chardonnay from the chalky 1er Cru vineyard plots of Les Barillers and Les Faucherets, situated mid-slope in Vertus. These sites make arguably the most explicitly mineral wines of the village. | Natural fermentation, spontaneous malolactic fermentation in oak barrels and spends eight years on lees with gentle bâtonnage. Unfined and unfiltered with no dosage in order to respect its purity from beginning to end. Distinct and mineral with notes of candied citrus, oyster shell, crisp green apple and slate.
