One of the top expressions from Lacourte Godbillon, this is powerfully expressive and yet fine and laser-like. Less than 2000 bottles produced from the stunning 2015 vintage.
Sourced from the small 20 acre estate they own and farm in the Premier Cru village of Écueil (Montagne de Reims) Husband and Wife team Richard and Geraldine have achieved what many feel is impossible in a region such as Champagne. Being a region renowned for significantly sized houses with multiple sourcing locations it is a rare thing to see a small family-run estate producing wines exclusively from their vineyard plots.
Geraldine Lacourte and partner Richard Desvignes are the fourth generation to farm and produce wine from the estate. As such they are passionate about the longevity and sustainability of their land. As a testament to this dedication the estate pursued a variety of certifications around viticulture and winemaking.
In 2020 the estate and its vineyards were granted Organic certification and just last week in September of 2022 the final approval for Biodynamic certification was received putting this incredible producer among only a handful in the region. Whilst these efforts in the vineyard are felt by the small team of 5 Geraldine and Richard quote the biodiversity which includes grazing sheep, fruit trees and cover crops as a significant positive influence in minimising any need for harmful intervention.
