"The fruit of a plot of vines planted with 85% Merlot, 7% cabernet franc, 6% cabernet sauvignon, 1% malbec and 1% carménère, Emilien is matured in seasoned large oak barrels and casks for 24 months. It is always a medium bodied, silky, elegant wine with very fine tannins.
This 2019 is said by Le Puy to the best rendition of Emilien for many years; it is slightly deeper in colour than the 2017 that we last shipped and has garnet/ruby colour and light purplish hues. The nose is as always complexed with blueberry, cassis and redcurrant with hints at sous-bois and gravel. In 2019 the wine is again superb quality, medium-bodied it is very precise, with fine tannins paving the way for a very long and complex finish. In 2019 everything is kicked up a notch and this is a wine of great finesse, sensual in its youth but also with the potential to age and grow for several decades, revealing the full depth and character of this superb terroir. The epitome of elegance and refinement, this 2019 will cellar to advantage for 20-30 years." - Andrew Guard
