2019 Jean-Pierre Robinot Lumière de Silex

WINEMAKER: Jean-Pierre Robinot
REGION: Loire Valley, FR
VARIETAL: Chenin Blanc
VITICULTURE: Organic/Biodynamic
"The signature time-lapsed photography on the label is as vibrant and energetic as the wine! The Chenin Blanc grapes were purchased from organic grower Damien Bureau from the Anjou region where Chenin thrives in the shale soils. We were fascinated when we first tried this wine because it still has all the characteristics of a Robinot wine. This is a wonderful example of Chenin Blanc that lasts for ages in the mouth and exhibits all the minerality and energy that we expect from a wine that has been made from grapes that have not been subjected to systemic sprays." - Living Wines
Not many winemakers have a cult following much like Robinot. After falling in love with wine at 22 years of age over a bottle of 1964 Cheval Blanc, Jean-Pierre soon opened one of Paris' first natural wine bars (L’Ange Vin), followed by creating one of France's most influential wine magazines (Le Rouge et le Blanc). Eventually leaving Paris to buy a vineyard with his wife Noella, the wines of Robinot are some of the most highly sought after in the world. Long, natural ferments, extended élevage, both sometimes years, always without additions of any kind. Super limited.
