STILL CHAMPAGNE!?
"A blend of all 7 permitted varieties. 30% Chardonnay, 30% Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir - the remaining 10% is a blend of Arbane, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Petit Meslier. The grapes come from three different terroirs - Chamery, Vrigny and Coulommes-la-Montagne. Direct press for all grapes, and then co-fermented. The wine goes through malo, and is aged in old 228L barrels for 11 months. Not fined or filtered, and zero sulfites added at any stage.
Decant recommended, and pourable if required. White, but almost blushing pink. The nose is subtle initially, offering up notes of smoke with a mild herbaceous twist. There are some peach, cream and strawberry notes in the background as it opens up as well. In the mouth it almost contradicts the nose, with juicy notes of grapefruit, peach, lemon, lime, apple and white strawberry – there is lots going on. The acidity is softer than in his Chamery blancs, and this also has more texture. Juicy, flavourful, and mildy tense, with beautiful mouthwatering acidity that lingers. Peaches and strawberries seem to dominate later in play. Very easy to drink, and a great entry level expression that can be enjoyed by everyone, without being challenging."
