Though the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree (or the grape from the vine), sometimes we have to go out into the world before we return to our true calling. Such was the case with Martin Texier, son of famed Rhone producer Eric Texier. He studied economics, became a DJ and worked in the wine trade in NYC before returning to the Rhône.

Texier the younger now cultivates five hectares in and around St.-Julien-en-St.-Alban, planted to Rhône varieties, which benefit from a range of different soil types: clay, limestone, gneiss, schist and granite, resulting in a gamut of styles. Working to revive long-lost traditions in the vines and the cellar, Texier embraces native yeast fermentation and uses no sulphur.
