2020 Sàgona Gattorosso

WINEMAKER: Federico Staderini & Daniele Corrotti
VARIETAL: Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Colorino
REGION: Tuscany, IT
VITICULTURE: Organic
A blend of Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo, Colorino and Canaiolo. Most of the grapes are de-stemmed and fermented naturally in cement tanks. Each grape fermented separately. Fermentation takes around 3 weeks with no temperature control. No filtration, not clarified, fined or filtered. Aged 5 months in concrete and stainless steel tanks. Bottled and released the following autumn from harvest.
Medium-bodied with an undeniable freshness and lift. Red plum, raspberry, pomegranate, brambly fruit, chalky tannins, and a more-ish finish. Just the right amount of spice and herbal nuance. Wild berries and aromatic herbs.
Sàgona is located on the slopes of Pratomagno, in the province of Arezzo. 500 meters above sea level where the soil is primarily sand and clay, surrounded by dry stone walls and a narrow valley.
