2021 Cantina Giardino Na

WINEMAKER: Antonio & Daniela De Gruttola
REGION: Campania, IT
VARIETAL: Falanghina, Coda di Volpe, Greco
VITICULTURE: Organic
"This excellent amber wine is a blend dominated by Falanghina from Benevento and Coda di Volpe from their vineyards in Montemarano, with a touch of Greco in the mix. Each spent four days on skins before being pressed off and blended for six months of rest in concrete. This really impresses with gentle mineral notes and stone fruits framed by just the right amount of tannin and a clean, salty finish. A great introduction to the house style." - Tutto
Cantina Giardino seek out old vineyards in Irpinia, high in the hills of Campania, preserving and championing local varietals. High altitudes, volcanic soils, organic farming and honest winemaking, Antonio and Daniela's wines are expressive of terroir and speak of place. | Believed to be a white grape used to make the famous Falernian wines for the tables of the Roman Emperors and mentioned already by Pliny the Elder, falanghina's name seems to refer to the Greek falangos and then phalange in Latin, with a curious reference to the poles used to support the vines.
