2021 Scintilla Flo's Pink Fizz

Sommelier-turned-winemaker James Madden has worked with the likes of James Erskine (Jauma) and Tom Shobbrook. He now shares a shed in the Basket Range with Alex Schulkin (The Other Right) to produce his own minimal intervention wines. All grapes are organic and/or biodynamic, handpicked and processed by shovel & fork. Wines are transferred by siphon using gravity, unfined, unfiltered and always zero adds.
"Whole bunch pressed to tank to settle and begin primary fermentation. Racked and bottled once fermentation reaches 10 g/L sugar. Not disgorged - no gushing, some lees.
Not a breath of wind, moisture clings to the air, it’s still... yet the silence is replaced with an almost deafening electric buzz from a cacophony of male cicadas. Dusk is approaching; alas the big kid cannot sleep. We lie together, arms by our sides and palms facing upwards, we take balloon breaths - slowly - in through our noses and out through our mouths. The metronome like movement of our chests expanding and contracting, bring a calm and cosy numbness through our bodies. Big kid begins to slip into deep blissful slumber. The even bigger kid senses his time to act and slides out with the clandestine like moments usually akin to the most skilled Ninja... This is a Flo’s Pink Fizz time!" - James Madden
