2022 Express Winemakers Drinking Red

This year’s Drinking Red includes Syrah, Pinot Noir and Malbec from a selection of sites. The Syrah and the Pinot Noir were harvested early to retain acidity and freshness, then pressed to stainless steel for fermentation. The Malbec skins were retained and the other parcels were steeped in these for a short period. The wine was matured in stainless steel before bottling. Made in the Express proprietary style, it’s bright and smashable with playful flavours of cherries, red liquorice and creamy soda, all balanced by natural acidity.

Ryan O'Meara is one of the nicest guys in wine. He also makes some of our favourite wine. Ryan currently leases and manages four* small vineyards in the Mount Barker and Porongurup sub-regions of the Great Southern. Organic farming without irrigation, no synthetic chemicals, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, these wines are alive, expressive and just an absolute pleasure.
