2019 Dirty Rascal King of the Castle

VARIETAL: Cabernet Sauvignon
REGION: Margaret River, WA
VITICULTURE: Biodynamic
WINEMAKER: Rebecca Tanner & Paul Nicholls
The grapes come from a biodynamically farmed vineyard located in Rosa Glen, approximately 15 kms south of the town of Margaret River. A 25-year-old vineyard on sandy loam soils, dry grown and one of the few narrow planted blocks of this variety within the region. The winemaking approach is gentle but persuasive. Wild ferments and a long maceration on skins, stalks and vine pruning’s, which encourages the grapes to spend as much time as possible connected to the vineyard, even after fermentation. Enabling the added benefit of building up a fine tannin profile from the vineyard wood and not from the use of oak, which they feel is truer to the site.
