2024 Gullyview Estate Brothers Riesling
WINEMAKER: Jono Koerner
REGION: Clare Valley, SA
VARIETY: Riesling
VITICULTURE: Organic/Sustainable
The nose is lifted and floral, with subtle hints of fennel and pine needle, it is quite unique and very appealing. On the pallet you get typical lemon but then you get this lime cordial character that coats the mouth and it is entwined with a powerful minerality which drives the wine and offers an appealing chalky texture! This is a real approachable style of Riesling which makes it easy to have a few bottles.
Anthony and Christine Koerner bought ‘Gullyview Vineyards’ on 15 May 1987. Today they are producing some of Australia’s highest quality grapes. In 2023 son Jono Koerner and partner Megan Jenkin established ‘Gullyview Estate’ which pays homage to Christine and Anthony’s hard work through carefully crafted wines that reflect the place in which they call home. The Estate is 70 hectare in total and is located in Leasingham (Watervale) Clare Valley. Jono and Megan only use a small portion of the fruit and the grapes used for the wines they make are chosen from a handful of select sites to best showcase the terroir and variety characteristics. The vineyard is mostly Terra Rossa soils, red clay over limestone, so all the wines have a beautiful underlinging minrality.
