Did your primary school ever put on one of this mini-fetes in the lead up to Mother's Day, that was during the school day in one of the empty classrooms. There would be a bunch of tables around with gifts you could buy your mum, and it was all soaps and knitted teddies sort of thing. I guess it was because there was so many deadshit dads that would forget to take their kids out to get a present for mum, this way all they had to do was give the little ones a couple $2 coins and the school would make up for their shortcomings. Anyway, the number one seller at these things was pot pourri. It dominated. It was flowers intensified by 2000%. This wine is intensely floral too but in no way at all like pot pourri. Which is a good thing. It's a little spicy with a mouth wetting natural acid. Salted Meyer lemon, earl grey, Sichuan and Pink Peppercorns
POOL is Tim, Al, Ed & Darcy. It is also everyone that helps us with advice, helps us pick fruit, helps us bottle and drinks our wine. We are based on Taungurung Country, in Kyneton. POOL had its first vintage in 2019 using half a tonne of local Shiraz. We learnt a lot. As we continue to learn we continue to expand and grow our repertoire with each season. We work with growers and vineyards local to the region to source grapes that have been grown in a way that is responsible to the land – reducing the use of sprays and interference and then hand-picking with our friends whenever we can. In the winery we use no additives of any kind, we don’t fine or filter and prefer to use people power and low intervention methods wherever possible.
