Sourced from the Paeroa & Lot 13 Vineyards in McLaren Vale, 60% Mourvedre was handpicked from Paeroa Vineyard at the base of the Willunga foothills, planted in sand & gravel over ironstone (Organically farmed, though not certified) & 40% Grenache was handpicked from the Lot 13 Vineyard in Sellicks Hill, McLaren Vale. Planted in 1999 at approx 100m asl. Vine rows run north-south & planted in well-draining deep riverine alluvium soils (Certified organic).
Handpicked and direct pressed into 2 seperate concrete eggs & wild fermented, matured on full lees in concrete egg for 5 months, racked to stainless steel and bottled. Unfined & unfiltered. Spicy and textural, Bandol inspired rosé.
Pronounced "pop-el-vei", vej is the Danish word for street and poppel træ is Danish for poplar tree. Poppelvej is the street of poplars, named after the street in Denmark where sommelier-turned-winemaker Uffe grew up.
