Our first attempt at Arneis; why not! Sourced from the Ten Miles East vineyard at Norton Summit, Adelaide Hills. This parcel was direct pressed and barrel fermented in a single barrique where it rested undisturbed for 12 months before a further 4 months in tank. Loaded with pears (like the ones growing all around the vineyard) this restrained white is delicately floral, spicy and endowed with delicate white and yellow fruits. Remnants of flinty reduction. The palate is fairly taught. Displays delicate pear and yellow plum, lots of spice – almost numbing – gentle reduction, mineral acidity and a very dry yet elegant finish. Arneis? Yes
