2023 Amo Vino Gianco Cannonau Blanco

We’ve had our eyes on this fruit since we spied the newly planted block of Grenache Blanc (aka Cannonau Bianco) at Ricca Terra and there was finally enough for us to have a go in 2023. Lovers of this variety in France we were looking to produce something fresh and elegant but still true to its personality and something a little richer in our range of whites. So after direct pressing chilled fruit and settling it was run to 3yo French hogsheads for full barrel fermentation and aging until September on its lees. We’ve kept the alc/vol at a modest 12.5% but still achieved its ripe banana and yellow tropical fruit expression complimented by delicate oak spice aromas. Tick! The palate echos the banana fruit with super ripe sweet yellow peach. The concentrated flavours reach down the back of the throat. And the texture? Silky and slippery thanks to the variety’s natural phenolic profile; a softness that makes the fruit seem even richer but freshness is always maintained
