2022 Mallaluka Amber

WINEMAKER: Sam Leyshon
REGION: Canberra District, NSW
VARIETAL: Chardonnay, Fiano, Semillon, Muscat
VITICULTURE: Organic/Sustainable
A simple, non-complex orange wine that has had a minimum 3 week fermented extraction period on skins. not too tropical, not too savoury, somewhere in between. It’s absolutely begging for the beach, river, park or backyard BBQ in the sun. Drink now or in years to come, but surely you wouldn’t wait that long, nor should you!
Chardonnay, fiano, semillon and white muscat. Spontaneous fermentation in 6 separate open top fermenters, different varieties mixed in different quantities, all on skins with some bunches. Post fermentation maceration for 26 days, basket pressed into single foudre for 8 months settling.
Sam Leyshon is the man (the myth, the legend) behind Mallaluka. After time at Clonakilla and a stint with the iconic Jean-Louis Chave (woof), Sam now produces his own thoughtful, naturally made wines from the Canberra District with fruit from the family vineyard and select, trusted growers. We have lots of love for Sam.
