2023 Jean Bouteille Bastion
WINEMAKER: Jean-Baptiste Courdesses
REGION: Adelaide Hills, SA
VARIETY: Pinot Noir
VITICULTURE: Organic
Single vineyard Pinot Noir from Mount Bera certified organic & biodynamic block in Gumeracha, Adelaide Hills. Farmed by the expert hands of Greg Horner & Alessio Lopardo. The MV6 Pinot Noir tight bunches come from a steep North-East facing slope which actually see two soil types meet : A limestone on clay on the east & a Schist slate on clay to the west. Which give to the MV6 grapes all their perfumes & complexity.
Naturally hand-picked, the Pinot Noir underwent a 10 days long carbonic maceration before being foot stomped & genteelly punched down once a day for another 10 days before pressing toward the end of primary fermentation. Elevage in Bourgogne barrique for 9 months on fine lees. Bottled on site in our Basket Range winery without fining nor filtration.
After accumulating years of experience from various fermentation, farming & hospitality work around the world, Jean-Baptiste Courdesses started in 2019 to hand make wines exclusively from organically farmed grapes, focus on regenerative practices & made naturally without any additions, fining nor filtration but only grape juice. Our small scale winery is based in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills. We farm our vineyard according to a strict organic method & purchase fruits from like-minded trusty viticulturist to craft wines only from the highest quality grapes. Based on intuitive reaction & natural instincts decisions, our wines reflect the landscape & the character of the grape varieties only permitted by a farming respectful of the environment, the fauna & flora.
