2023 Mac Forbes EB17 Lovechild Reborn Grenache

Many moons ago a lovechild was born of Mac and his then-viticulturist Dylan Grigg from the Wesburn vineyard. Today Dylan farms his own site, Vinya Vella, in the Barossa, but his and Mac’s bromance burns bright. Vinified by our Mac Forbes team in the Yarra, this EB takes fruit mainly from the young bush vines (35 years old) farmed by Dylan at Vinya Vella, with a tiny bit of fruit from his old vines (130 years old) to really bring the love.

Bright and vibrant on the nose, fruit and florals jump out of the glass. Violets and blueberries with an edge of raspberry leaf. Supple on the palate with silky tannins and a compact fruit core but still super fresh. The hallmarks of the site are all clearly evident in this wine, but there’s a lightness and freshness that you may not have expected.

Wine that speaks of place is what Mac Forbes is all about, truly championing Australian terroir. One of the best in the game.
