The 'Carajillo' boasts 9 differing varieties from a number of vineyards throughout the Niederösterreich, Carnuntum & Cartuntum-Petronell regions. The name of this wine derives from a Partida Creus vintage ritual. The beloved Muz Vermut is blended with a shot of espresso, imbibed at all hours of the day. This is an ode to the mentorship of the famed Massimo Marchiori, where this cuvée was kick started in 2018 during the Catalonian harvest.
The free run components of the Kollektiv's favoured parcels & ferments; a nondescript blend of Blaufrankisch, Gruner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Goldmuskateller, Welschriesling, Pinot Noir, St Laurent, Zweigelt & Chardonnay are all individually fermented & matured in 54L demijohns. This blend of red & white grapes all see 12 months of élevage in their respective vessels on fine lees, before blending in stainless steel prior to bottling. Unfiltered & zero additions.
Kollektiv Peternell emerged in 2019 from a collaboration between friends Paul Schuster, Simon Ecker & Dave Ferris. While Schuster & Ecker have familial ties to the Petronell-Carnuntum region, Schuster met Ferris during the 2018 harvest with Partida Creus in Catalonia. Together, they have also collectively gained notable winemaking experience in Languedoc-Roussillon at Domaine Matassa & in Franconia at 2Naturkiner. "The results are razor-keen Burgenland wines made at the high standards of purity & ingenuity of the trio’s mentors in France & Catalonia." Aaron Ayscough - Not Drinking Poison
The climate here is governed by the Pannonian Plain, providing a continental climate oscillating between warm summers & frigid winters. The proximity to Lake Neusiedl tempers these extremes, elongating the grape's sojourn on the vine.
