NV Jo Landron Brut Atmosphères
WINEMAKER: Jo Landron
REGION: Loire Valley, FR
VARIETAL: Folle Blanche, Pinot Noir
VITICULTURE: Certified Biodynamic
100% estate fruit, hand harvested, this is a blend of Folle Blanche and Pinot Noir (Jo doesn't like using the traditional Melon de Bourgogne for sparkling wine). Méthode traditionnelle (Champagne method), naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts and on lees for 24 months. Extra brut dosage of five grams. Intensely mineral, of course. Fragrant, white flowers, with ripe orange, fleshy peach and more chalky, saline minerality. Expressive and complex, it's Muscadet made like grower Champagne at a fraction of the price. Seriously impressive.
Jo Landron took over of the family domaine in 1990, swiftly converting to organics and biodynamics and becoming one of the first in the region to receive certification. Tiny yields and a diversity of soil types, Jo's wines truly speak of place, driven by the conviction that "Muscadet must faithfully express its terroir with a distinctive mineral character."
