2022 Corentin Houillon Veronnet Blanc
WINEMAKER: Corentin Houillon
REGION: Savoie, FR
VARIETY: Jacquère, Altesse
VITICULTURE: Certified Biodynamic
]Savoie – Co-fermentation of Altesse 47% and Jacquère 53%. Aged in vats on lees fine until bottling. This white wine is the identity of the estate, the identity of each plot (jet, molasses, scree), and the two grape varieties complement each other magnificently. A wine with an expressive nose, both rich and lively on the palate. Perfect to accompany fish and cheese or your aperitifs.
Growing up as a part of the Houillon clan meant that Corentin Houillon spent his youth foot stomping Poulsard grapes for Pierre Overnoy and learning the ways of zero additive winemaking from the master himself. He then went to study enology in Beaune and after graduating worked for a number of local luminaries including the great Stephan Tissot before heading overseas to work in the new world. Since 2019 Corentin has had his own domaine, on glacial soils nestled between mountains and surrounded by forest, Savoie sits between his native Jura and his wife’s home in Switzerland. He crafts pure and precise mountain wines from Jacquere, Altesse, Pinot and Gamay in the mould of his childhood mentor, but with an equisite mountain freshness.
