2018 Domaine des Rouges-Queues Celsius

Isabelle & Jean-Yves Vantey established their domaine in 1998 with just one hectare in Maranges, the youngest appellation in Burgundy named just ten years earlier. Now they farm six hectares biodynamically across 15 different sites in various appellations. The name "Rouges Queues" came from the birds ("red tail", also known as "black redstart") circling around the estate while they restored the old farm buildings. Coteaux Bourguignons ("Burgundian hills") is a tiny appellation established in 2011 to replace the earlier Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire. This is 100% gamay from that region. Lifted and perfumed with driving acidity, a little wild and earthy too. There's some structure but plenty of drinkability. Sour cherry, fleshy plum, violet and rose.
Varietal: Gamay.
Region: Burgundy, FR.
Viticulture: Certified Biodynamic.
