2021 Clos Bateau Beaujolais Lantignié May Ga

WINEMAKER: Sylvie & Thierry Klok-de Visser
REGION: Beaujolais, FR
VARIETY: Gamay
VITICULTURE: Organic/Biodynamic
"100% Gamay from 56 year old vines, grown on pink granite, clay and quartz, at 330M above sea level. Macerated for 9 days, and aged in used Burgundy barrels for 8 months. Not fined or filtered, and zero added SO2. 10.5% alc. Also super light this year, complete opposite to the 2020. Fragrant aromas of macerated red berries, red plums, red apple skin, brown spices and dried red rose petals. Supple and lithe on the palate, and super easy to drink. Lots of little red berries, red cherries and milk chocolate. Nice lift and gentle tart finish. A little crunchy too actually. Moreish! Serve slightly chilled." - Ryan Larkin
Sylvie & Thierry Klok-de Visser started their adventure in 2019 when they moved to their domaine in Lantignié, Beaujolais. It’s a small 5.5ha, nature-friendly domaine where they work all year round with just the two of them. With almost all the vineyards and land (totalling 8ha) around their domaine, they are creating a thriving ecosystem. As soon as they arrived, they immediately planted over 100 fruit and nut trees in the vineyards to increase biodiversity. They want to work with nature in harmony, not against it.
