2021 Jordi Llorens Parellada

WINEMAKER: Jordi Llorens
REGION: Catalunya, SP
VARIETAL: Parellada
VITICULTURE: Organic
"This cuvee is old vine parellada, now reaching close to 80 years, planted on a single site just outside Blancafort in Conca de Barbera. This ancient natural amphitheatre has been a renowned viticultural area since Roman times and the majority of the terroir is made up of young calcareous matter. This alkaline soil lends the wines inherent natural acidity and a low PH, yet the wines have more of a supple nature and are less angular and direct than wines grown on pure limestone or chalk.
As always, Jordi allowed this cuvee a couple of days macerating prior to being pressed off to amphora for fermentation and elevage. Bottling took place in April 2022 and the wine has been resting in Australia since September 2022." - Campbell Burton
Trained geologist and eighth generation farmer, Jordi Llorens is a leading light in Catalan natural wine. Jordi farms around 15 hectares in Blancafort with extremely limestone rich soil, producing expressive, terroir reflective wines without additions of any kind. Pure and precise.
