2021 Sandhi Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
WINEMAKER: Rajat Parr & Sashi Moorman
REGION: California, USA
VARIETY: Pinot Noir
VITICULTURE: Organic
The entry level Pinot Noir from Sandhi/Domaine de la Côte. A blend of vineyard holdings in the Sta. Rita Hills. Over half the fruit is from 40 year-old vines at Sanford & Benedict with the rest coming from younger vines at Rita’s Crown, Bent Rock and Domaine de la Côte itself. This wine showcases the exuberance of Sta. Rita Hills with bright, shiny red crunchy raspberry fruit that is layered with cola spices and tobacco.
Made by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman out of the Domaine de la Côte winery in the Santa Rita Hills. The Sandhi label allows an exploration of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines throughout the Santa Barbara County terroirs. From Raj and Sashi: "Sandhi is dedicated to making wines of finesse, minerality, acidity, structure and balance. Wine achieves power and beauty through the seamless integration of these qualities, and this is the inspiration for us. We feel wines exhibiting extreme ripeness, alcohol, oak and other discordant exaggerations cannot truly express a specific vineyards’ terroir. From a cellar approach, we go to great lengths to protect the vibrancy, freshness and energy that makes wines from the Sta. Rita Hills so unique. All wines are wildyeast fermented in neutral oak and concrete vessels, and there are zero additions of water, sugar, acid and enzymes.”
