2022 Adrien Dacquin Origine
WINEMAKER: Adrien Dacquin
REGION: Savoie, FR
VARIETY: Jacquere
VITICULTURE: Organic/Biodynamic
100% Jacquere, whole bunch macerated for 10 days then pressed to fibreglass tank to finish fermentation and élevage. A fresh gently macerated wine, with light round acidity resting long in the palate. More apple and pear than your regular macerated wine, with notes of baking spice and orange rind over a clean minerality.
Adrien is a relative newcomer to the world of making wine. In 2012 he made his first cuvée off his parent's biodynamic vineyard. In 2017 as his father hinted at retirement, Adrien took up the plot and started selling their grapes to some famed producers in the area and further abroad, including Jean-Yves Perron and Patrick Bouju. But slowly Adrien became interested in vinifying his own grapes and now makes more and more wine from his own hand-tended vines.
Set among the dramatic lakes and mountains in the Porte-de-Savoie, Adrien farms 3ha of Mondeuse and Jacquere. Adrien's vines slope southward soaking up the summer sun and bury into limestone soil, giving the wines a lithe minerality and salinity. As the years pass, Adrien's production is slowly becoming more recognised. While he started by just selling wine out of his garage to those who would ride past on cycle-tours of the Savoie, now his wines are exported to the US, Australia, and Japan - where they have developed a cult following.
