The fruit is sourced from a single site in the heart of McLaren Vale on Pirramimma Sandstone, providing fresh and vibrant fruit with a touch of earthiness and spice.
VINTAGE The 2025 McLaren Vale vintage saw some intense and unpredictable weather. Harvest began mid-to-late January, around two weeks earlier than usual. A string of short but extreme heatwaves in December and January, caused grapes to ripen quickly, compressing the harvest window. Fortunately, some welltimed late-season rain helped relieve vine stress and supported flavour and tannin development. The resulting wines show excellent fruit concentration and optimal tannin ripeness. WINEMAKING The Nero d’Avola was harvested at peak flavour ripeness, with a fine balance of bright natural acidity. Fermentation began spontaneously with wild yeast and progressed relatively quickly, held at moderate temperatures in open-top fermenters. Maturation took place in seasoned French oak hogsheads for 5 months.
TASTING Colour Vivid crimson-purple Bouquet Bright blackcurrant, plum and mulberry with some floral notes and a delicate herbal lift. Palate Medium-bodied, brimming with berry fruit and spice, lifted by a subtle savoury edge. Bright cranberry acidity adds vibrancy, while firm yet supple tannins provide gentle structure.
