2025 CRFT K1 Gruner

WINEMAKER: Candice Helbig and Frewin Ries
REGION: Adelaide Hills, SA
VARIETY: Gruner Veltliner
VITICULTURE: Certified Organic
The colour is pale and bright with a vibrant green hue, as the bottle suggests!
Lifted and fragrant with white pear and quince with hints of warm spice with fresh ginger and a pop of star anise. The slatey minerality is reminiscent of the cool slopes of Kuitpo. The palate is textural and giving, showing crunchy acidity with a lingering white nectarine and stone fruit finish.
Whole-bunch pressed to tank then transferred to older seasoned (neutral) French barriques for barrel fermentation on full solids. 100% wild yeast ferment. Partial wild MLF and regular lees stirring. Approx. 2 months in barrel. Vegan friendly. K1 Vineyard Grape vines in their youth battle for their place on the earth. Water, soil and sun is hotly contested until they each establish their territory. Young vines can often be overly ambitious and unbalanced, but as they come of age, their canopies fill out, bunches become consistent and vineyard characters become more distinct. The K1 vineyard is home to one of the oldest plantings of Gruner in the country, and whilst 2008 may seem recent, these are old vines in an Australian Gruner context. \
