2020 Geyer Mood (500ml)

WINEMAKER: Dave Geyer
VARIETAL: Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Muscat
REGION: Barossa Valley, SA
VITICULTURE: Organic
Handpicked from 100 year old vineyards owned by Dave's in-laws & farmed by the big man himself. Both vineyards are farmed organically & planted on alluvial sand based soils. Approx 60% Chenin Blanc, 25% Semillon and 15% Muscat.
"I thought I was getting more but all three parcels got smoked by poor fruit set, so there was only enough to put together in one picking bin! Co-fermented together in stainless, semi carbonic for a month & pressed to old oak puncheons for 12 months, irregularly topped, racked & bottled unfined, unfiltered with 10ppm SO2 added"
After a childhood in the Barossa Valley, Dave found himself working in the vineyards of Torbreck in 2002. This sparked his interest in all things viticulture and preceded a 7 year stint in the winery. Given an opportunity to travel for vintage to the US in 2007, the goal of one day producing his own wines was cemented. He sought to control the process from the vineyard, with the elimination of synthetic chemicals to the winery where the mantra - “less is more” rings true. Reviving and nurturing some of the neglected vineyards of the region to produce honest, innovative and delicious wines.
