2008 Crawford River Museum Cabernet Sauvignon
WINEMAKER: Belinda Thomson
REGION: Henty, VIC
VARIETY: Cabernet Sauvignon
VITICULTURE: Organic
"2008 was a very long growing season, but also a warm, dry season. As a result, the wines were quite rich stylistically, with wonderful generosity of fruit and terrific concentration.
Blackcurrant, black cherry and cedar combine with edges of black olive to present a magnificent, aged release wine. The concentrated fruit profile leans to black, rather than red fruit, with an elegant, fine palate providing integrated, highly quality French oak. There is liquorice root and baked blood plum, with the structured, fine tannin so typical of our gravel dominant soils. An age worthy pleasure." - Belinda Thomson, Vigneron
Crawford River is an iconic family producer in the cool climate of Henty in Victoria's south-west. The Thomson family have been producing wine from their estate since 1985, making the move to organics in 2008. The vineyard is managed by hand without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or fungicides, using organic composts and grazing sheep.
