"This is extremely beautiful wine. The Verge's scale really quite amazing heights in ripe vintages. The wines retain freshness but have extra layers of complexity and the '09 L'ecart is just such a stunning example of this. This cuvée had the bung removed for a brief period like the '13 Balaise and is more oxidative in style as a result. There's not much more I can say about this other than it's right up there with the benchmarks of chardonnay. Unforgettable." - Campbell
Catherine and Gilles farm 3 hectares of old vine chardonnay around the village of Vire. Long, natural fermentation with indigenous yeast, sometimes up to two years, followed by several seasons of élevage to allow for natural bacterias to do their work. Organic, zero adds. Unbelievably pure and complex.
