"Bright in the glass, the calciferous nature of the soils on which this wine grows is unmistakably evident. Lemon curd, custard apple, lime and an omnipresent shell-like character are all there. Clean definition through the palate provides depth of flavour, balance and an underlying power throughout. There is freshness here too, which in a 7 year old wine is a pleasure to see. The wonderful palate length is aided by balanced, soft acidity with the amalgam of flavours lingering throughout the mineral backbone. A thrilling wine." - Belinda Thomson, Vigneron
Crawford River is an iconic family producer in the cool climate of Henty in Victoria's south-west. The Thomson family have been producing wine from their estate since 1985, making the move to organics in 2008. The vineyard is managed by hand without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or fungicides, using organic composts and grazing sheep.
