Le Mont des Chrétiens is a lieu-dit in the village Ecueil. The parcel is entirely of Chardonnay and Fred ferments and ages it in 500L barrels. Zero dosage. (Fred used to call this cuvée Dame de Coeur). It’s pure elegance. Very special to see Fred now making wines entirley from this grape. Silky, fragrant and fine with a creamy core.
“From vins clairs vinified in 500-liter barrels, the 2018 Extra Brut Premier Cru Le Mont des Chrétiens offers up youthfully reductive aromas of pear, spices, white flowers and praline. Full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with lively acids and saline finish, it largely conceals its 13.6% alcohol, but it remains something of a heavyweight.” - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Frédéric was born into a family of vignerons, but his real dream was to be a professional footballer. He even signed a youth contract with Stade de Reims, playing as an attacking midfielder, but after meeting the woman who was to become his wife, he refused a potential transfer to another club, and decided to return home to work with his father, Daniel. His philosophy in the vineyards is to prevent disease as much as possible, rather than treat it—towards this end, he prefers a holistic approach, creating an environment within which the plant is better equipped to resist malady on its own.
