2021 Local Weirdos Big Valley Bombo (1500ml)

VARIETAL: Grenache, Semillon
REGION: Swan Valley, WA
VITICULTURE: Organic (In Conversion)
WINEMAKER: Sam, Dave, Larry, Charles & Matthew
A blend of three separate picks of Grenache, with a touch of Semillon from the Turbulent Juice to provide some added electricity. 500L of carbonically macerated Grenache, the first pick from that block, providing freshness and driving acid. 500L from the second parcel picked, all bright red fruit. 500L of the third pick of Grenache, separated out again as a result of powdery infection in the vineyard. Riper, more serious, darker fruits, grippier phenolics.
All blended together, creating a wine leaning toward fun and fresh, light red in the glass, with crunchy red fruits and cherry, a hint of olive brine, all the while the phenolics providing a subtle scaffolding that carries the wine to a lingering finish. Fun and complex all in one. Importantly no accidental bubbles and we managed to keep it extra natty with no additions this year. Pair this with an Awesome Donkey Kong inspired label apropos of our misspent youths and you’re on your way to a great time. We affectionately refer to the Bombo as our ‘Swiss-army wine’ – perfect for a variety of times, locales, occasions and activities.
Local Weirdos is a collective of mates who are championing the revival of the Swan Valley. They lease a vineyard named Gino's Block, keeping it dry grown, converting to organics and improving soil health and fruit quality.
