Never before have we made a white Pinot Gris. Apparently, we should have. It is trying to be a Chardonnay. Understandable, but unjustified. Definitely a solid wine in its own right. Savoury citrusy goodness with crabapples and some other pithy pomaceous vibe. Pears stuffed with crabapples stuffed with white currants. Imagine that!
Russian-born winemaker Alex Schulkin and his wife Galit make pristine zero-zero wine in Adelaide Hills. Alex is also a researcher at the Australian Wine Research Institute in his day job. Makes sense. Pure, precise, an absolute joy to drink.
