2022 Brave New Wine Magical Animal Chardonnay

"Hand picked from our Porongurup vineyard, whole bunch pressed direct to French Oak Puncheons 50% new, full solids. The juice was allowed to ferment spontaneously with no additives. This year we wanted to push the oxidative ‘Jura’ style a little further so half the barrels were left untopped, allowing a natural flor yeast to grow on the surface producing a complex, nutty character.
The wine displays a bright golden straw hue with a slightly green edge. The nose is intriguing and complex with an upfront nuttiness, fine French oak and flint over a base of green melon and citrus. The palate has a tight mineral line driven by fresh natural acidity, but is delicately balanced with a luscious mouthfeel, fresh lime, nectarine and hazelnut praline.
