2022 Good Intentions x Pleasure Club Single Barrel Cape Jaffa Chardonnay

We nabbed a very special barrel from our good mate Andrew to celebrate the opening of our newest venue, PLEASURE CLUB!

"The fruit for the 2022 vintage Chardonnay comes from a site situated just out of the town of Robe in S.A.The Chardonnay is grown over sandy soils over limestone only a few kilometres from the ocean. Cool sea breezes and cooling temps each night lend to great ripening flavours in Cape Jaffa fruit.

This fruit was de-stemmed and left on skins to gently macerate for a couple of hours to enhance the texture/ phenolics and give it a beautiful golden colour. The wine was pressed to barrels for it's fermentation. Time on lees and light oxidative notes lend a lovely textural and saline quality to the wine, not dissimilar to the Jura styles of Chardonnay.

Beautiful acidity from the limestone soils with citrus, salty nectarine and white stone fruit and honeyed character on the palate. 

The special Pleasure Club bottling was from a single old French oak barrel that Andrew left to age for an additional 1 year post the initial bottling and release of the wine. The extra 12 months (18 months total in barrel) gave the wine a more oxidised character."
