2022 Koerner Rolle Vermentino
Description
WINEMAKER: Damon & Jono Koerner
REGION: Clare Valley, SA
VARIETAL: Vermentino
VITICULTURE: Sustainable
"The vineyard was planted in 2009 by our Dad, 'Anthony Koerner'. He did his research and found that Vermentino should grow well in our dry conditions and he was correct. The variety crops well, holds its natural acidy and ripens up to offer great fruit flavour. The vineyard also sits between the 'Grace' and 'Gullyview' Riesling sites, on a bed of limestone and again you get incredibly minerality showcasing in the wine. The 2022 vintage is fermented and aged in Slavonian Oak Demi-muid (600L barrel) on full solids for 8 months and then on fine lees in Stainless Steel for 3 months. A pure and mineral expression of Vermentino with tropical fruit characters on the nose. The palate is silky smooth with flavours of lemon curd and sea spray, along with plush texture and mouthfeel. All pulled together with a zippy acid line. This wine is drinking beautifully now but will also age nicely in the cellar." - Jono
