"The Picardy site was specially selected in Pemberton for its high altitude and well drained gravely loam soils. This is cool climate viticulture at its best. The vines are planted on a north/westerly facing slope for maximum exposure to sunlight. Pemberton Sauvignon Blanc with a dash of Semillon. A cavalcade of attractive tropical fruit notes here: guava, passionfruit and some lime, interwoven with acid drive that gives the wine a vibrancy and length rarely seen in its contemporaries. That said, the salient feature here is the balance: you could drink this wine all day. Flawless at this level, this is a Sauvignon blend for grown ups." – Bill Pannell
The Pannell name needs no introduction in the Australian wine industry. The legendary Bill Pannell was instrumental in putting Western Australia on the fine wine map after planting vines on the renowned Moss Wood Vineyard at Margaret River in 1970 and producing some of Australia’s greatest Cabernet based wines. With the reputation of Moss Wood well and truly established, Bill sold Moss Wood and, together with son Dan, chose to turn their focus towards Burgundy in their new challenge – Picardy.
