2022 Sparrow & Vine Barossa Grenache

The 2022 vintage was a little cooler with slower ripening leading to harvest being 12 days later than the previous couple of years. More time to develop flavour I reckon. The majority of the fruit this year is from the organic and biodynamically farmed Ahrens/Hilder old vineyard at Vine Vale with about 15% off the 60 year old Doecke vineyard in the Eden Valley.

Again, it is medium weight, bustling with red fruit and spice notes. The structure this year perhaps a little finer and more velvety but still offering the balance of bright, juicy red fruits with concentration, length and approachability. Quite dangerously drinkable.

Sparrow & Vine wines are exclusive, small batch bottlings where the fruit is carefully sourced and the wine made in the Barossa Valley, Beechworth in Victoria or in our own Inner Sydney warehouse. All are made with minimal intervention and bottled using minimal amounts of sulphur dioxide.
