2023 Bink Flowers Semillon
WINEMAKER: Koen Janssens
REGION: Barossa Valley, SA
VARIETY: Semillon
VITICULTURE: Organic
Bink’s 2023 Flowers comes from a plot of old, dry-grown, gnarly Semillon vines in the Barossa Valley. The 90-year-old plot sits at the southern end of the region and the vines sit on sand with loam over clay. The fruit was picked on 1st March, and 90% was destemmed. After fermenting with 10% whole bunches in stainless steel, the wine was transferred to French oak hogsheads for a short maturation before bottling.
Koen Janssens started his wine life working as a Sommelier in Belgium and around Europe. He landed in Sydney in 2012 but it wasn't long before he was called to life in the vineyard in South Australia. Koen worked with legends we all know and love such as Anton from Lucy M, James from Jauma. He started Yetti and the Kokonut with Dave Geyer, but it was old mate Pete Schell from Spinifex who suggested Koen get out on his own, and Bink was born in 2017.
