Sourced from 35 year old vines at the Peacock Corner Vineyard in Oakbank, Adelaide Hills. Planted in sandstone, siltstone & shale. Organically farmed, though not certified.
Handpicked Pinot Meunier, 1⁄2 whole bunch, 1⁄4 wholeberry and 1⁄4 direct pressed atop the remaining fruit & wild fermented, semi-carbonic, foot stomped daily. Aged on full lees in neutral barriques for 5 months, racked and bottled. Unfined & unfiltered.
Pronounced "pop-el-vei", vej is the Danish word for street and poppel træ is Danish for poplar tree. Poppelvej is the street of poplars, named after the street in Denmark where sommelier-turned-winemaker Uffe grew up.
