WINEMAKER: Florence and Benoît Chazallon
REGION: Ardeche, FR.
VARIETY: Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon
VITICULTURE: Organic
Terroir: Clay and limestone (from the cretaceous era) between the Rhone and the Cevennes. Mediterranean climate.
Aromatics: Lifted and spicy wine with notes of wild strawberries, fresh raspberries, brambles, cracked black pepper, and garrigue (wild herbs).
Palate: Structured and generous Grenache Syrah blend with red berry fruit, soft yet firm tannins. This is a delicious red with a Côtes du Rhône personality since the vineyards are across the Rhone and Ardeche. The small percentage Cabernet Sauvignon adds a touch of structure and leafy tannin that cuts through the ripe fruit, all very tasty.
About the wine: Average 30 years old vines. Fermentation with natural yeast, light maceration 'infusion' style for 20 days in stainless steel tanks with a daily pumping over. Ageing 6 months in stainless steel tanks. No fining and no filtration. Incredible value for quality wine that punch way above its price point.
When to drink: Drink now or in the next 2-3 years.
Service: 12 to 14 degrees C.
Food match: The perfect match for a summur aperitif or bbq with friends. Pair with some charcuterie, cheese, a steak frites or a nice juicy burger.
