2024 Small fry Fools Gold Riesling
Description
WINEMAKER: Suzi Hilder and Wayne Ahrens
VARIETY: Riesling
REGION: Eden Valley, S.A.
VITICULTURE: Minimal Intervention
Some things are just meant to be and Riesling with a lick of RS can be quite celestial, out of the classical handbook. A drier season made for lower yields but summer was again cooler making for gentle ripening. The Vinevale site continues to produce riper end of spectrum flavours with tropical fruits dominating and then balanced by wonderful natural acidity. So much of this wine is about mouth feel, the balance between the fuller Riesling characters, the tight acidity and the rounding sensation of the residual sugar.
Colour: Pale straw with some golden and green hints
Aroma: Rich lime marmalade and tropical fruit with white blossom
Palate: Mouth filling sweet lime and lemon citrus balanced with a clean acid finish
Summary: This Riesling goes well with most seafood dishes, also delicious with spicy foods, particularly good with ginger and soy braised pork belly.

Come curious. Leave with a new favourite.
We don’t tell you what to drink. You don’t need to know your varietals, regions or vintages, and you certainly don’t need to pretend you do. Tell us what you like, hate, what you’ve tried or curious about — we’ll take it from there. Sometimes the best bottle is the one you didn’t know you wanted.
